The Committee met today to discuss improvements to the layout of the patch.
It has been decided to trial, over the summer season, the following changes to the patch:
1. No flying from the East / West pits. These pits will no longer be in use, with flying only take place from the North / South pits.
2. Instead of white lines marking the Pilots’ Line and Safety Line, areas of longer grass will cover the safety zone, with large taxi ways cut out.
3. All other rules remain in place, for instance taxiing back to the 12 metre ‘line’ only, not to the Pilot’s Line or pits.
The trial of this change was agreed unanimously by the Committee for three main reasons:
1. To improve safety by avoiding any flying near to the western boundary hedge, as advised by the BMFA, particularly given the increased activity at the full size site.
2. With no members volunteering to help with the white lining, maintaining the white lines is not sustainable.
3. There will be a cost saving to the club by not using the white line paint.
