Club Day Report

A great end to a great summer

The last really hot day of the summer saw a full carpark, smoke rising from the bbq and many members taking part in some friendly competitions.

Our chairman did a superb job of organising some great burgers from his bbq.

Three trophies were donated to the club by Brian and Colin Gardener of Algar electric motors. These trophies were competed for in three disciplines; Scale, Vintage and fun fly. All disciplines received a good entry. Its was particularly good to see many members ‘having a go’ in what may have been there first ever competition. This is exactly what I wanted to see.

Congratulations to Neville Polley and Colin Gardener for winning the Scale Trophy, Ray Stuart for winning the Funfly and it seems I managed to win the vintage trophy. Think you all still love diesel engines, like me.

I hope to continue these three disciplines into next year and build upon the success that we saw on club day, fun fly is a great way to improve ones flying discipline and good fun. Scale seems popular with all, and many people have commented on how pleased they have been to see some vintage airframes and engines at the field. With the help of our chairman I also hope to make a bit more of the electric glider events. local aylsebury club are hot on this and maybe we can have an inter club event!

Finally I am considering one last event of the year, a winter fly in. All and everything welcome. A funfly session for an hour in the middle of the day. A day between christmas and new year, watch this space.
