I have been contacted by an Air Safety Officer at Royal Air Force Benson in connection with a ‘possible confliction with a model aircraft’ at our site.
I don’t have all the details at present, but the matter is related to height restrictions for model aircraft as outlined in Article 16.
I must ask that all members follow the January 2022 changes in law as outlined in Article 16, especially following height restrictions:
1. BMFA members are authorised to operate above 400ft with aircraft (excluding multi-rotors) which weigh less than 7.5Kg.
2. Model aircraft weighing more than 7.5Kg must not be flown higher than 400ft without permission of the BMFA.
The Committee have contacted the BMFA with regard the second point, but due to the proximity of the full size we were advised that this would not be possible.
