I am very sad to announce the passing of our very good friend, David Bockett, yesterday evening, Sunday 11th June, 2023.
He was only diagnosed recently, after several years of immobility and discomfort, that he was suffering from liver cancer, too late for any effective treatment unfortunately.
David served as Membership Secretary at our club for 14 years, so you will remember his smiling face greeting you when you first came to the field. His contributions at club evenings were frequent, including sterling presentations of wing foam cutting and ply lamination and proudly showing us his models, such as his excellent ‘Brisfit’ Bristol 2 seat fighter.
He had quite an amazing memory for names and would always greet you by name and usually a timely remark. Beneath the surface hid a wicked sense of humour.
I’m sure he is up there in that great model workshop in the sky thinking up a new model of some kind.
Bless you David. We will all miss you.
